Top Agent Tips

  1. Commissions are negotiable.
  2. Agent’s aren’t required in every state.
  3. Don’t get stingy on agent commissions.
  4. Listen to their recommendations, which could include staging, price drops, etc.
  5. Involve your Listing Agent as early on in the process as possible, we like to involve them immediately after we close on a deal or when we get contractor bids, they often have great suggestions on what makes a property sell in a particular area. They are specialists.
  6. As an investor, never work with just one agent. Get a team, contact them frequently and build those relationships.
  7. Oftentimes agents will discount listing commissions for frequent business.

Be Generous

Most agents deserve their commissions. Granted there’s a big spread in agent activity and expertise. Enthusiasm does not always outweigh a lack of experience. Using your recently license nephew might be great around the Thanksgiving turkey, but an experienced agent can literally make tens of thousands of dollars in difference.
